Noggin Originals was the original production arm of Noggin, a children's network owned by Viacom and CTW (later Sesame Workshop) originally targeted towards pre-teens from 1999 to 2002, then to pre-schoolers (when Sesame Workshop sold their half of the partnership to Viacom) until 2009, when it was folded into Nick Jr. However, as of March 4, 2015, Noggin still exists today as an app distributing older shows from Nick Jr., Sesame Workshop, and shows for younger audiences from Nelvana.
1st Logo (April 1, 1999-October 1, 2002)
This logo contains flashing images that may cause seizures in some viewers. Please do not watch the videos of this logo if you are prone to seizures.
Nicknames: "I've Got a Good Idea", "The Idea", "Head Bulb"
Logo: On a blue background, we see a Noggin logo with nothing on top. What appears to be a drill pops up on top of the logo, and is forced out, revealing it to be part of a lightbulb (the logo shuts its eye and grits its teeth once this happens). It turns upside down, lights up (turning the background yellow), and smiles. The letters in the logo rearrange themselves to be right-side up, and "ORIGINAL" appears below.
Variant: This was also used as a short bumper, but the word "ORIGINAL" (and the copyright notice) are removed.
FX/SFX: The lightbulb unscrewing itself from the Noggin logo, the background, the Noggin logo spinning, the letters rearranging.
Music/Sounds: A "screwing" sound as the lightbulb piece appears, and when the logo lights up, there is music that sounds "desert"-like, accompanied by various sound effects, which include the word "Noggin" being spoken in a somewhat nasal voice.
Availability: Extinct; appeared on A Walk in Your Shoes (1999-2002 episodes), Sponk!, and the first season of Play with Me Sesame. When Sprout (now Universal Kids) aired Play with Me Sesame, this logo was edited out.
2nd Logo (2003-2007)
Nickname: "Noggin Horn"
Logo: On a light green background with patterns of circles, we see the Noggin logo with a stick with gears on top of it with a horn which plays popping out with an I looking like a cat's nose, then the L appears and then the O and then the rest of the text pops out with the horn bouncing when playing.
FX/SFX: The horn and the text moving into position, not to mention the circles.
Music/Sounds: A horn tune with a few drums in the background.
Availability: Extinct; seen on later seasons of Play with Me Sesame, but is edited out on PBS Kids Sprout airings.
3rd Logo (April 7, 2003-August 10, 2007)
Nickname: "Mentally Created Tree"
Logo: Against a blue sky over a field of dirt, the sun is rising and we see the Noggin logo. A tree quickly grows on it, with fat little birds approaching and a banner with "ORIGINAL" on it appearing.
FX/SFX: Just cute animation.
Music/Sounds: A whistling theme with drums.
Availability: Extremely rare. Last seen on airings of Oobi and Miffy and Friends on Noggin and Nick Jr. It also appeared on a print of Miffy and Friends on Netflix. Sony Wonder DVD releases of the latter keep this logo, but it's unknown if this logo appeared or was removed on the PBS and KRO airings of the show, though it probably might not have been seen on KRO. Also seen on the American dub of Tweenies and American airings of Connie the Cow.
4th Logo (September 12, 2005-October 13, 2007)
Nickname: "Noggin Horn II"
Logo: On a pattern background (presumably the Jack's Big Music Show credits background), we see the Noggin logo on the left with a curved tuba facing to the right on the head. A white ribbon reading "ORIGINAL" comes out of the tuba and birds are handling it with their feet.
FX/SFX: The objects coming out of the horn.
Music/Sounds: A banjo strum then a high-pitched, 5-note flute tune (presumably one of the network's generic themes).
Availability: Rare. Likely preserved on DVD releases and Noggin (the revived online TV service) prints of Jack's Big Music Show until the show was removed in 2020.
5th Logo (April 5, 2006-January 9, 2010)
Nickname: "Skyscrapers" (1st variant), "The Noggin Bird" (2nd variant), "Noggin Gears" (3rd variant)
Logo: On a white background, we see the Noggin logo with something on top of its head, depending on the show (see the variants below).
Variants: There were 3 variants used.
- Pinky Dinky Doo (season 1): The logo is in purple. On top of it, we see a drawing of some skyscrapers (colored yellow and pink). Under this logo is the CBeebies logo.
- Pinky Dinky Doo (season 2): The logo is in blue and smaller than usual. A drawing of a blue bird is seen on top of it. The CBeebies and Discovery Kids Latin America logos are also seen above this logo.
- The Upside Down Show: The logo is in neon red with 3 blue gears on top of it. A medium-size gear with a small gear floating above it is seen on the left of the logo (both dark blue), and a big gear (colored sky blue) is seen on the right of the logo. Copyright information is seen below.
Music/Sounds: The ending theme of the show.
Availability: Rare. Seen on The Upside Down Show and Pinky Dinky Doo. However, HBO airings of the latter edit this logo out.
